Kena Allison

Kena Allison is a Biology teacher at Washington Latin Public Charter School. Latin is a liberal arts and college preparatory network of schools serving more than 1,000 students in grades 5-12 from across the District across two campuses. In 2024, Ms. Allison was named as a finalist for DC Teacher of the Year by DC Mayor Murial Bowser – a prestigious honor, awarded annually to a DC Public Schools (DCPS) or public charter school teacher who has demonstrated outstanding leadership and commitment to student achievement. Previously she was a Science teacher at Thurgood Marshall Academy in Washington, DC. In this role she received the Milken Educator Award – an honorable recognition given to educators for their impressive achievements and for the promise of what they will accomplish in the future. Ms. Allison holds a M.A. (Teaching) from American University and a B.S. from Bowling Green State University.
