Washington, DC –  Watering Hole Media (WHM), a new social impact media project from CNN commentator and former Obama-Biden White House and Biden-Harris-campaign senior advisor Ashley Allison, seeks to bridge the cultural-political divide by creating trustworthy content featuring Black and Brown influencers for Black and Brown audiences.

“Culture is our best entry point to politics,” said Ashley Allison, Founder and CEO of Watering Hole Media. “At a time when we’ve never been more politically divided, we need a space that authentically engages Black and Brown audiences in politics through the cultural conversations they are already having in their group chats, in the barbershop, and at brunch. I created Watering Hole Media to be that space, bringing members of our own community together to craft scroll-stopping content on the issues that matter from folks our audience already knows, trusts, and follows.”

Recent data shows that only 19 percent of young voters passively seek the news and when they do look for more information they go to YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, podcasts, and Twitter. In an era where AI-fueled misinformation pervades social feeds, especially targeting users of color, WHM is stepping in to serve as a compelling alternative to the flood of false narratives, empowering audiences with accurate information and inspiring meaningful action from people they already know and trust.

WHM is dedicated to building content verticals that foster trust among its audiences not by building content built for the masses but by focusing on the audiences critical to reach but rarely served. They will launch with a new trio of series led by award-winning producers, “Wait A Minute,” “Tap In” and “Everything Is Fine.” Each show features candid conversations with an all-star lineup of media professionals, creatives, and politicos, all dedicated to shaping our collective future. Diving deep into pop culture, entertainment, politics, activism, and beyond, each episode will challenge the status quo and spark change.

“It’s refreshing to be a part of conversations with people I identify with, know, and respect on topics we're all really passionate about,” Phil Agnew, co-founder of the Dream Defenders and Black Men Build. “I’m tired of being pandered to and told what issues are important to me and mine. I want content that reflects my everyday life and conversations I’m already having and if I'm craving this content, I know others are too.”

Each WHM series is produced by top-tier talent with “Wait A Minute” produced by Aundrea Cline-Thomas, a three-time Emmy award-winning television journalist, and “Tap In” and “Everything Is Fine” produced by Brandon Sharp, current Executive Producer on the award-winning Stitcher/Sirius XM’s podcast, VIBE CHECK along with many other TV, film, and documentary projects in the works.
